For over 150 years, agricultural activity has been defining the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean landscape, as farmers and rural communities have always helped fashion Quebec’s picturesque roads and countryside. The Centre d'Interprétation de l'Agriculture et de la Ruralité (CIAR) (Center for Agricultural and Rural Interpretation) promotes the rich patrimonial heritage and savoir-faire of the local communities, while presenting its origins and history to visitors. The CIAR also announces upcoming seasonal events and addresses current and future agricultural challenges. Of course, the CIAR is, first and foremost, an enchanting site, a collection of historical artefacts, and the perfect setting for many unique activities. It is also a part of our history, the witness of times past, and a preview of a heritage that is yet to be forged.
